备注：什么是美国社区大学
美国的所谓“Community College”，亦即“社区学院”或“社区大学”，或可称为“两年制大学”（以下统称为“社区学院”），大多是公立学校。这是亚洲国家所没有的一种教育系统（绝不是中文翻译意思上的“街道学院：），大家可能比较陌生；它提供二年大学一般课程教育，学校会颁发副学士学位（Associate Degree），你可以转到四年制大学或学院继续念书，许多学分都是大学承认的。 社区学院有许多加强语文或其他学科计画，帮助你先选一些较轻的课程，打点一下学习基础，再去念一般大学课程。尤其是语言能力较差的外国学生，需要先「恶补」一下英文，或是申请不到大学的学生，社区学院都是一个很好的选择。因此，社区学院可说是进入大学的一个跳板，而且它对英文和学科的需求不像大学或学院严格。 社区学院同时提供专业技术和职业训练课程。 社区学院还有一项最大的优点，学费相当便宜，比大学或学院少很多。有的社区学院规模很大，不亚于大学，有上万名学生。
